Ahhh, how sweet is this little family? There was just so much love and joy in their home, I could feel from the moment I walked in. They had just welcomed sweet baby Luca to their family and wanted to get these fleeting moments documented.
I've always had a love for this documentary, lifestyle approach to newborns. We, of course, get those squishy up-close portraits of baby, but I like to tell a story of the family growing. Especially in the home where it is all happening. For a military family, like this one, they will probably move in a couple years and so having these special portraits will be a reminder of a home they had welcomed their newest family member.
I also love that these in-home lifestyle sessions typically make for incredible black and white images. Something about soft window light and it bringing the attention to their faces and less so of what sometimes could be distractions outside of them.
That is not to say I don't love incorporating the wonderful decor in the home. This family had a gorgeous frame above their bed with their names and wedding vows printed on it. I just love it so much and it added so much story to this portrait. This image is the one they printed on a large metal! I just love it.
There was a very excited and joyful new grandma there as well that we made sure to get a few of timeless photos with. <3
